Update on progress
I have not been very regular about posting. I am still working on old newspapers. Who knew how many articles there were in the old papers? The problem is I keep getting distracted reading old headines not connected with hockey.
I am working my way slowly through the Victoria Maple Leaf articles and am having fun identifiying the ones from Bob Barlow’s collection. I promised to date and organize his clippings and am making good progress with them.
I particularly enjoyed the coverage of the Leafs returning home after winning the Patrick Trophy in Portland. As I was on my way home in my car, I missed all the excitement at home. I took some Super 8 video of the last game in Portland but somehow it has gone astray in the last 50 years. I live in hope that I will find it soon. I think I was the only Victoria fan in that huge Portland arena and it felt good to win.
I will switch my research base to the UVic library as their prices for copies of old microfilm are much cheaper than at the public library – and I have hundreds of pages to copy.
